From the earliest age I was drawn to the ethereal world of flowers. Throughout my life I have explored many art mediums. Nature, music, traveling, learning, teaching, eating with the seasons and most importantly, creating art, makes up the tapestry of my life. Through many twists and turns, great gains and losses, I never lose sight of preserving the beauty the natural world is constantly providing. Nature is my primary muse. I have been drawn to projects of an ecological nature my entire life. Nurturing my creative practice has been a way to maintain my overall wellbeing.
I am an artist, educator and emerging naturalist. I create multi-media art that reflects my interest in the natural world. Within my art, I've woven together my lifelong love of flowers with a continued appreciation, respect and curiosity of the sea. I began my business Seaside Botanical Art in 2023. I have been observing and studying seaweed and the natural world through an artistic lens since 2005. I received a BA in Sociology from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst in 1999. Prior to becoming a full time artist, I was a Montessori educator for fifteen years and I also worked as a manager and buyer in the natural food industry. I stay connected to the natural world and the arts through participating in conservation volunteer work, attending Seaweed Festivals nationally, exhibiting yearly, teaching workshops and maintaining memberships within art centers, cooperative galleries, art museums and nature preserves. I am available to teach seaweed pressing workshops, lead beach clean-ups, and exhibit my art within New England and beyond.
When I am not working, I find inspiration by traveling with my partner to seaside destinations around the world.
As a visual artist and teacher, I hope to collaborate with marine biologists, ecologists, botanists, visionaries, eco-artists, herbalists and encourage more people to rethink their relationship to the earth and better understand human impacts and interconnections.
